Ep 2169: A Journalist with a Superpower
Featuring: Alessio Atria
Ministry: Journalism
What does a journalist have in common with Superman? More than you might think! On this episode of iWork4Him, Jim and Martha head to Florida to meet Alessio Atria, a journalist with a unique superpower of his own. The twist? Alessio is autistic, and the very things that make him see the world differently also bring strengths to his work, from laser-sharp focus to an eye for details others might miss.
But this conversation goes beyond what makes Alessio different. He shares how his faith in Jesus shapes his commitment to truth, why journalistic integrity matters in a world full of opinions, and how he navigates the challenge of reporting facts without letting personal bias take over. Plus, Alessio offers a powerful word of encouragement to autistic individuals and their families about the future God has for them.
In this episode, you’ll also hear:
How autism has shaped Alessio’s unique strengths and approach to journalism
Why telling the truth means more than simply avoiding a lie
How to keep personal opinions from overshadowing the facts
What it looks like to honor God in a career that doesn’t always revolve around faith
Alessio’s encouragement for anyone who has ever felt defined or limited by a label
God can use the way you’re wired to make a difference in the world. Alessio’s story challenges us to look beyond labels, recognize the gifts God has placed in others, and bring integrity and purpose into whatever work He has given us to do.
