Ep 2040: The Christian Woman Resource You’ve Been Waiting For

Writer, coach, and businesswoman Peggy Bodde joins this iWork4Him Podcast episode to encourage Christian working women to use their God-given talents and abilities in the marketplace. She opens up about her own past doubts navigating a corporate leadership role while being a Christian. The work that she does can be summed up as help that she wishes she had earlier as a woman in the marketplace.

Our work – and every part of our lives – is sacred because we bring God into those spaces. That’s the key message of this conversation and of Peggy’s new book, Sacred Work. It’s written specifically for women and serves as a handy reference guide for tons of different work dilemmas and circumstances. To get to know Peggy even better (which we recommend because she’s a gem!), check out her previous sheWorks4Him Podcast interview

Ep 2039: Be the Answer to the Foster Care Crisis

This second show on getting involved in foster care (check out the first show too) is so practical and inspiring! It challenges workplace believers and retirees alike to flip the foster care system on its head – in a good way. About 90% of foster parents quit within 2 years due to the overwhelming challenges. But you and your church can be the reason these families choose to keep fostering.

Imagine a designated team bringing meals, chauffeuring kids, or providing childcare – a lifeline for foster families. This is an opportunity especially for retired folks who have the time and experience to lend a hand. Cindy shares stories and ideas that we pray will leave you answering the question: “What is my something that I can contribute?”

Here are some simple ways to present care communities/wraparound grandparenting to your church:

  • Take the general idea and examples to your church leaders; offer to be an advocate for foster support

  • Send this episode link to your pastor and others who would be interested in helping out

  • Find resources from Promise686, a training organization that Cindy mentions in the episode

  • Connect with Cindy at cindy@keyfam.org, especially if you’re in PA

Ep 2038: Make Each Day Sacred

Enjoy another “mic flip” where Jim and Martha are the ones being interviewed!

This time they chat with South African Faith & Work enthusiast Bill Hollis. This conversation is chocked full of wisdom and emphasizes that God has equipped individuals with specific gifts and talents to fulfill their roles in the workplace, no matter where they are or what they do. Jim was able to share the iWork4Him Nation Covenant, advocating for incorporating faith into daily work routines through prayer, serving others, building authentic relationships, and maintaining excellence.

The trio took some time to highlight the significance of celebrating and empowering Christian working women, acknowledging their spiritual giftings and contributions to the marketplace. Transformation happens when we bring Kingdom principles into the workplace! Expect the supernatural when you carry out your mission "as you go" in your everyday work environment.

Jim and Martha recently made changes in their own lives to support Kingdom businesses. Check out the businesses for yourself:

Ep 2037: Our Collective Call to Care

Get a high-level overview of fostering with Jim & Martha Brangenberg. They are joined by Cindy King, Equipping Director at Keystone Family Alliance in Pennsylvania. Cindy shares her personal journey into fostering, influenced by her upbringing and her husband's involvement as a foster care case worker. The conversation delves into the challenges of fostering and adoption. Since the government is not great at parenting, it's imperative that the Church steps up to care for the widows and orphans, as expressed many times in God’s Word.

Cindy sheds light on the dire state of the foster care system nationwide, emphasizing the urgent need for support and advocacy within communities. One big issue she’s seen firsthand is high caseworker turnover and reminds us that caseworkers need our support too. Studies show that with every change in caseworker, the chances of a child leaving the foster care system get slimmer and slimmer.

Fostering is a specific calling but caring for children in the foster care system is a mandate from God. Listen and pray about how you can get involved in fostering or supporting foster families.

Ep 2036: An Identity Reevaluation

In this episode of iWork4Him, Jim and Martha Brangenberg shake things up by tossing out the idea that work and ministry are separate worlds. Nope, they're all about bringing faith right into the 9-to-5 grind! You’ll hear about why it’s so important to have a correct view of your identity as a believer on assignment, living with Jesus at the center in every part of your life.

Your job is way more than just a paycheck – it's a mission field where God wants to use your unique talents, gifts, and abilities to minister to others. From praying for your coworkers by name to going the extra mile in service, it’s all about bringing Jesus into your workplace. The iWork4Him Nation Covenant is a great guide for doing this. Plus, they give some tips on how to be a workplace superstar, since excellence is part of the deal when you're repping Jesus. So, if you're ready to turn your office into a faith-fueled adventure, tune in and get ready to see your workplace in a whole new light.

Ep 2035: Taking Church Outside the Walls

In this episode of the iWork4Him Podcast, hosts Jim and Martha Brangenberg are joined by John Wilson, a former country music promoter, who unveils his personal journey from wanting nothing to do with Christianity to becoming the visionary force behind Light the Way Ministry. This organization takes the Church to people who might never step foot into a sanctuary through music festivals and now their September tent revival in Springfield, Missouri.

As John recounts his experiences, he shares the unexpected encounter that led him to begrudgingly host a Christian concert in his small hometown, setting off a series of events that would ultimately transform his life. John's tale is one of resistance turning into surrender, pride giving way to humility, and a once-reluctant soul becoming a passionate instrument for spreading the message of Christ.

Amidst the storytelling, the episode extends a heartfelt invitation for 5,000 intercessors to join in daily prayers for the upcoming revival, emphasizing the belief in the power of prayer to bring about true revival. You’ll also get a sneak peek of the TED-style talk that John will give at the upcoming U.S. Christian Chamber of Commerce Business Expo. The show concludes with an open invitation for other cities to embark on similar journeys, with John offering assistance to those seeking to organize revivals in their own communities.

Ep 2034: Putting Theory into Practice

Never doubt that God has a plan! This is what guest Lisa van den Berg learned over the last several years as she journeyed from South Africa to England to California and finally landed in Austin, Texas. Lisa reflects on her initial hesitations about Christianity, but a powerful encounter changed everything and made her realize that she could have a relationship with God and have ambitions.

After starting their relationships with Jesus, Lisa and her husband struggled with putting spiritual theory into practice, which led them to Bethel Church, where God showed her how to apply her spiritual gifts to business situations. It’s amazing what the Lord will do when we just LET the light He’s put in us shine! (Matthew 5:16) Throughout the chat, Lisa talks about her passion for helping people discover their unique spiritual gifts. She also touches on her podcast "Adventures with Jesus, Today," where she shares real stories about trusting Jesus in everyday situations.

As the episode wraps up, Lisa gives some down-to-earth advice, urging listeners to keep things simple by building a daily connection with God. Invite Him into each and every part of your life! You won’t regret it.

Discerning The Voice Of God In Your Work
12-18-20 - New Podcast Episode Alert.png

Many times over the last 8 years we have talked about hearing from God on the steps we should take in our work or in our businesses but how does that work? Since we have an Unfair Advantage, access to the Holy Spirit of God who has access to the blueprints of heaven, how do we use that advantage to move our business in a direction that glorifies God and blesses our community? We don’t know all the answers but we have access to one business man from Austin Texas who has been pursuing the Lord in his Businesses over the last 4 decades. I have asked him to share his insights on how we discern the voice of God in our work/Business.

Tony told us a story of a patient that he tended to during his early years in medicine, during his surgical residency. The patient didn’t seem to have ordinary medical problems and God told Tony it wasn’t ordinary. He prayed about it and God eventually showed Tony and his wife the answer to the patients issues. Tony encourages us to be in the Word of God so we know His truth. Begin with the ordinary, so the extraordinary becomes more normal. Faith is spelled RISK – we get better at it the more risks we take. Tony reminded us that “His sheep hear His voice,” we are His sheep and we need to discern what He has to say.

YouTube Video Interview

Understanding The Power Of God’s Word
05-15-20 Canva Podcast Image.png

Today we are talking to David Collum, President of the Pocket Testament League, and Mollie Yoder, Director of Member Relations.

The Pocket Testament League has been equipping Christ-followers to read, carry, and share the Gospel of John since 1893. Today, David and Mollie talk with us about the unique challenges that PTL faces in 2020 and beyond – among them the COVID-19 pandemic and an increasingly digital society.

The Pocket Testament League's biggest challenge – digital or analog – is getting people to understand the incredible power of God's Word. When we, as believers, invite someone to read the Gospel, it isn't our job to change their hearts or minds; it's the Holy Spirit's. God's word is living and active, and when someone reads it, they can't walk away un-impacted.

In the past, the PTL has primarily disseminated the Gospel of John through printed copies that go out to their members. These individuals then carry the Gospel with them, pray about who to give them to, and then share them.  Obviously, with COVID-19, physical handing out printed copies of the Gospel of John is no longer accessible, so the PTL tapped into its global web presence and developed the 3-2-1 Plan.

The 3-2-1 Plan allows people to continue to share the Gospel during social distancing through three simple ways: 1) an email reading plan from PTL, 2) a video series where the Word of God is read, discussed, and a question is asked, and 3) a daily texted bible verse and question.

If you are interested in Pocket Testament League’s simple 3-2-1 Plan for sharing the Gospel with your coworkers, family, friends, or neighbors, check out their website at PTL.org

God At Rest
04-09-20 Canva Podcast Image.png

We work all day, and then we drive to soccer practice or a church event or some other community thing. The reality is that we are usually busy and tired. Today, we’re talking with Rich Marshall, the host of “God at Work” on God.TV and author of the book by the same title about his latest book: “God at Rest.”

Rich spent years teaching everyday workers about taking their ministry into their Mondays, and now he is asking can we live a life with both work and rest? According to Rich, yes! Work isn’t the opposite of rest – it is a part of our designed purpose, meant to be experienced in partnership with rest. And ultimately, rest originates with God’s presence.

Tune in to learn more about incorporating rest into your workday through listening to God, partnering with the Holy Spirit, and intentionally inviting Jesus into your everyday tasks.
