iRetire4Him Show #72 - #1 of 3-Part Series: Ageism and the Christ-Following Retiree
#1 of 3-part series: Today we begin a series on Ageism and the Christ-Following Retiree. Why?
We believe how we see ourselves is directly related to the messaging we absorb on a daily basis. If that messaging isn’t from a biblical worldview that honors and values the participation of retired folks, that messaging can be harmful.
Our 3-part series on Ageism and the Christ-Following Retiree will focus first on understanding ageism, then on how ageism impacts the world around us, and finally in our third podcast we will focus on how our faith can help us overcome this age discrimination.
iRetire4Him Show #71 - #3 of 3-part series: Questions You Need To Ask Before And During Retirement
#3 of 3-part series: As we have said so many times on the iRetire4Him Podcast, many retirees know what they are retiring from but few…very few …know what they are retiring to. How can you make sure you are prepared for what’s ahead?
Today we are going to focus on 8 questions we must answer in order to build in FLEXIBILITY into our plans as we head into retirement:
How will you handle your time?
How will you prioritize your activities?
How about leisure?
What is your plan and how will you organize your spiritual growth activities?
What is your plan and how will you organize your personal growth activities?
How will you stay in shape?
Where does family fit into your schedule?
Where will you find meaning and purpose?
These are certainly important questions to answer! Listen in as we end this series talking with Bruce Bruinsma, Retirement Reformation founder, about these more flexible – but still significant – areas of retirement.

#2 of 3-part series: As we have said so many times on the iRetire4Him Podcast, many retirees know what they are retiring from but few…very few …know what they are retiring to. How can you make sure you are prepared for what’s ahead?
Today we are going to focus on 6 questions we must answer in order to be prepared for the CHOICES we have ahead of us in our retirement:
1. How are you going to relate to your spouse or partner?
2. What are you going to do?
3. Where are you going to do it?
4. Who are you going to do it with? What will your community look like?
5. How are you going to finance it?
6. What is most important to you?
Join us as Retirement Reformation founder Bruce Bruinsma helps us answer these questions from his own life experience and biblical advice.
iRetire4Him Show #69 - #1 of 3-part series: Questions You Need To Ask Before And During Retirement
#1 of 3-part series: As we have said so many times on the iRetire4Him Podcast, many retirees know what they are retiring from but few…very few …know what they are retiring to. How can you make sure you are prepared for what’s ahead?
The good news is: you don’t have to prepare for retirement alone! In this series, Retirement Reformation’s Bruce Bruinsma shares 7 questions that we should answer if we want to be ready for retirement:
1. What is most important to you in retirement? What are your desires, passions, and priorities?
2. Where will you live?
3. Are you connected to the unique plan God has for you?
4. Who do you want to love?
5. Will you have enough?
6. Where are you on your personal growth journey?
7. What special issues will impact your future?
This show focuses on the DECISIONS we must make early on in the retirement journey. You’re invited to listen in as we discuss these answers from a faith-forward perspective!
iRetire4Him Show #68 - #3 of 3-part series: Loneliness in Retirement
#3 of 3-part series: In the United States, people typically retire between the age of 60 and 70. Regardless of when you will retire, ending your working life will change things. Even though this is often for the better, sometimes it can change unexpectedly or even deceptively. Retirement comes to many as a relief, but if you loved your work and found it truly gratifying – or built your entire social life around your career – retiring could present some pretty complex challenges.
In this show, we finish up this 3-part series of Loneliness in Retirement and welcome back DaySpring retiree, Sue Ruddick, to hear from someone who has journeyed the (sometimes lonely) road from work to retirement. While retirees might find themselves alone more often, that doesn’t mean we have to be lonely. Let’s talk about the benefits of solitude!
Nobody wants to feel lonely during their retirement, so it’s important to recognize your feelings and take steps to improve your quality of life. Incorporating new habits – and a deeper spiritual walk resulting in a fresh outlook – will help you feel less isolated and alone after you leave the workforce. Your retirement years can be the best years of your life if you keep your eyes on the Lord, be honest with yourself, maintain a positive mindset, and embrace this new era of your life — it’s a gift of time that’s yours to treasure!
