iRetire4Him - The Appeal

What am I doing to speak into the generation that follows?

God designed an hierarchy where Man has dominion over all that He created.  But Who holds each human accountable?  Ultimately, human accountability is Gods job but here on earth there is a design for an extra layer of protection, the generation ahead of us.  In a perfect world, our family elders guide us and hold us accountable.  Their role may be to guide us, be a sounding board, and keep us from making stupid choices.

Accountability looks and feels different for every person that God has created.

For some it may come from an uncle, boss, or a retired neighbor.  In high school I was mentored and discipled by a college aged guy for several years.  This was no small task for any one person. I am a hard charging, high energy person with unbridled enthusiasm. He had to run hard to keep up with me and hold me accountable.

Unfortunately, I have gone without a formal mentor for many years as an adult.  I am grateful for those that have fed into my life on occasion, but I know I need someone to speak truth and share from their life stories.  I need to learn from those that have lived life a few steps ahead of me and been shaped by God along the way.

This one thing I know for sure...the next generation needs me and you to walk through life with them.

The destruction of the family has had huge negative effects on the next generations.  The majority of Baby Boomers grew up with both parents and fairly stable home lives. Generation X'ers, Millennials and Gen Z (Digital Gen) are suffering from lack of parenting, lack of family connectedness and lack of intergenerational contact.  These 3 issues have created a huge need for older adults to mentor them.  10,000 Baby Boomers reach the age of 65 and retire EACH DAY.  Can you see the need to reach the generations that follow you and feed them with the God Given wisdom you have? As you approach an age with potentially more time and freedom on your side, consider your role to mentor and disciple someone in the next generation.  Be challenged to live the life that is defined as:

It is a cry from the heart of the Lord to live our lives to the fullest while running the race to the very end.  So many of my peers and younger need someone to share their old age wisdom and faith into our lives. Be valued and be used. You are needed.  Be ready to say "iRetire4Him".

Acts 20:24New Living Translation (NLT)

24 But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus-the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.
