When we spend time in community, we inevitably learn from one another! Today, the co-hosts of sheWorks4Him do exactly that.  Sit with us for a spell and hear how God is stirring in our lives, which scriptures are specifically drawing us in, and some highlights from the first season of sheWorks4Him!

Catherine Gates reminded us that we are not alone, to believe what God says about us, and to invest in community (Hebrews 1-:24-25). Her focus scripture is Isaiah 26:3. Nadya talked about her word for 2022: empower. After all, empowered women empower women! Her focus scripture is Psalm 138:7-8. Finally, Martha shared how she continues to learn how to trust and obey God. Recent guest Heather Heuman said, “When God says to let something go, but your pride says to keep going, there really is only one right choice. #GodsWay.”

In that spirit, we are obeying God’s call for a season of rest and restoration! For now, that means we are taking a season break from the podcast. Please join with us as we seek when the Lord wants sheWorks4Him to return, and in the meantime, enjoy some past episodes and stay connected to be the first to know about the new season by subscribing HERE.

In 2017, the Boston Consulting Group found that company culture has a more significant influence on women’s ambition in their careers than age or family status. Today’s guest Mary Guirovich wrestled with discouragement in her career but eventually became COO of the multi-million-dollar company she helped start. YouTube Video Interview

In 2017, the Boston Consulting Group published an article called “Dispelling the Myths of the ‘Gender Ambition Gap,’” exposing the lie that women tend to reduce their goals for advancement in their careers as they become mothers and advance in years. BCG research shows that company culture has a more significant influence on women’s ambition than age or family status. Today’s guest Mary Guirovich wrestled with discouragement in her career but eventually became COO of the multi-million-dollar company she helped start because someone encouraged her. God guided her to create a plan for her promotion which took her to VP of Operations, then COO, and later partner. When she realized many other women like her struggle with seeing their value, she was inspired to write a book to share her promotion planning process.

Mary is passionate about being a catalyst to help women advance in their careers and break through their own personal best in all areas of life. In her best-selling book, God’s Not Done with You: How to Advance Your Career and Live in Abundance, Mary provides a system that is integrated with faith and has become the standard for advancing in her company. As Mary states, true promotion comes from the Lord. She needed to include God in her book, and we need to turn to Him with our ambitions, build our confidence based on who we are in Christ, and walk-in obedience to God.

sW4H 20 | Cindy Marks Uncharted The Prayer Room to the Board Room

Sometimes the needs in our communities are so daunting that it leaves us feeling like our contribution is insignificant and we are unable to create impact. In 2012, the crime rate in Modesto, California, was significantly higher than the US national average. Community and social activist Cindy Marks, and a group of fellow Christ-followers, wanted to see their city change, so they launched Pray Modesto, and guess what? The results are in, and they are pretty darn good.

Sometimes the needs in our communities are so daunting that it leaves us feeling like our contribution is insignificant and we are unable to create impact. In 2012, the crime rate in Modesto, California, was significantly higher than the US national average. Community and social activist Cindy Marks, and a group of fellow Christ-followers, wanted to see their city change – but how do you change something so systemic? By asking the one who has the power to change anything! This faithful group of Christians launched Pray Modesto, an umbrella under which they brought together Christian churches, ministries, and organizations to have continuous daily prayer for Modesto by assigning each entity one week to pray. And guess what? The results are in. Over the last five years, the city has experienced a measurable decline in crime.

Cindy Marks has always had a passion for government, education, and prayer. Her vision to see God heal relationships and be glorified in every sphere of influence caused Cindy to say ‘YES’ to God, not knowing she was an answer to the many prayers of others. Tune in to this incredible show as Cindy shares about how to make a difference in our schools and communities by taking God at His Word and stepping out in faith, even when we don’t know what the outcome will be.

Resources from Today’s Show:

Cindy is an incoming participant in the Masters Program for Women – a training program that helps you reframe your perspective, discover your calling, and reorient your life around making an eternal difference! (Oh, and did we mention that our host, Nadya Dickson, is the leader?) To find out more, go to MastersProgramForWomen.org Prayer is the seed of change, and an simple way to begin is by participating in the National Day of Prayer in your city. The success of Love Modesto eventually led to a nationwide movement called Love Our Cities that helps facilitate city-wide volunteer events and initiatives. To find out more about how you can bring the love of Christ to your city, visit LoveOurCities.org

sW4H 2 | Dee Ann Turner Stewarding Talent

Featured Guests: Dee Ann Turner

Ministry/Workplace: Chick-fil-A; DeeAnnTurner.com

Dee Ann Turner, Vice President of Talent for Chick-fil-A, knows that to succeed in today's marketplace, you have to be driven. But instead of driving their teams to success, many companies are simply driving their teams into the ground. Join hosts Martha Brangenberg & Catherine Gates as they talk with Dee Ann about how leaders of faith can honor their Christian values, create a culture of care, AND remain competitive.

YouTube Video Interview

Today's Marketplace is ridiculously competitive, wrought with uncertainty, and steeped in pressure. Culture would have us believe that success comes from being driven and driving our teams hard. The trouble is, too many companies are driving their teams … right into the ground. How can people of faith lead well and honor their Christian values while also remaining competitive?

If you ask today's guest, the Vice President of Talent for Chick-fil-A, Dee Ann Turner, she would start by explaining the importance of stewarding your talent well. Under her leadership, Chick-fil-A has enjoyed industry-leading employee engagement scores and become known for selecting the best talent in the hospitality business. Dee Ann is also the author of two best-selling books covering corporate culture and career success. Bet on talent teaches leaders how to find and keep extraordinary talent. And her latest book, Crush Your Career, teaches talent how to be extraordinary. She has also mentored and championed hundreds of people to discover their unique vocational callings and build careers they love!

From the ripe old age of seven, Dee Ann planned to go into a life of full-time Christian service. Today, we discuss how she fulfilled that commitment in the Marketplace through helping other people find their calling and how working under Truett Cathy taught her about creating a positive workplace culture and being a good steward of resources AND people.

Resources for you from today's show:

The most life-changing habit that has impacted Dee Ann's leadership is starting her day with at least a full hour of Bible reading, prayer, and exercise. In the morning, she turns to resources, including her Bible, the First Five app from Proverbs 31 Ministries, the YouVersion Bible app, as well as Michael Hyatt's Full Focus Planner.  Dee Ann will also be speaking at the Boldly Conference on Friday, October 8, 2021, on the topic of "Creating a Culture of Care."
