Good Friday – What’s “GOOD” About It?

On a Friday afternoon about 2000 years ago, a man named Jesus was killed by the Romans and the Jewish Religious rulers of Israel.  They used the most horrific method to kill Jesus. First they beat him half to death by whipping him 39 times, which stripped skin off his back and torso, and they pounded a crown of thorns into his head. They made him carry his cross beam to the hill on which he was to be crucified.  There he was nailed to the beam through his wrists and ankles.  Jesus would have to push up on those nails in his ankles in order to breathe – eventually he died…but the story does not end there – that’s why it is Good Friday.  It was on that day, that Jesus Conquered the penalty of death for any sinner.  He paid the price with his own blood so that we wouldn’t have to pay it ourselves.

It is Good Friday because that was the day he paid the price for you and me – we have but ONE thing to do in response to this sacrificial act of Jesus.  Romans 10:9 (NLT) says:

9 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Jesus is the truth for everyone.  As Christ Followers in the workplace, we can share this truth.

It’s Good Friday – celebrate why it is sooooo Good.

He is Risen…Jim
