Did Your Hear Me?

The last couple of weeks we have talked about praying intentionally for our families and our workplaces. Many of us still ask the question, does God hear me? Why doesn't God answer my prayers? I pray and I pray and I pray:  yet nothing seems to happen. Maybe it really boils down to our understanding of prayer.  Do we worship the God of the universe or a magic genie in a bottle.

When we pray there are three possible answers to our prayers:  Yes, No, or Wait.  But if we’re honest, most of us pray with the anticipation that the only answer to come will be "Yes ".

In my life, especially after the last 13 years of truly digging deep in my faith, I see that my heart is being transformed and molded to pray for the things that God wants for me. That takes time. Often I begin by  praying for the outcome I want.  Yet, as I wait for God to act on my prayers, He reveals His true desires in that area.

This week I challenge you to journal what the Lord says to you as you pray for those your work with and live with.

Watch for the transformation in your own heart. God is listening but He is more interested in deepening His relationship with you, than in quickly answering your prayer.

From the study Experiencing God…Most of us respond when someone commands “Don’t just stand there, do something”. How would you respond when God says “Don’t just do something, Stand There!”

Matthew 6:8 (NLT)

8 Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him!

Next week – praying all day long…?
